Capacity building

for cities, regions, and countries, which aims at accelerating the climate and energy transition

GCI-CCE has initiated a few climate and energy transition capacity-building projects. The projects involve institutional, academic, and industrial partners from a variety of countries, including EU, USA, Caspian-Black and Baltic Seas countries,  Ukraine, Central Asia, India, Pakistan, Nepal and Turkey.  The projects relate to facilitation, networking, public- private partnerships, regional and country policy support, climate, and energy policy research, etc.

20+ climate and energy cooperation platform

 

20+ energy and climate cooperation platform – Energy transition in Baltic, Caspian and Black Seas region. The primary objective of the 20+ Cooperation Platform is to establish a cooperative framework that addresses climate change and energy security through shared strategies, technologies, and investments. By bringing together countries from diverse regions, the platform aims to harness collective expertise and resources to develop sustainable energy solutions, enhance energy security, and mitigate climate impacts.

The 20+ Cooperation Platform will include the following countries: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Germany, Poland, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Armenia, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, as well as Switzerland, USA and Saudi Arabia.  Iran and Russian Federation, being part of the basin, could be invited one’s political conditions allow. The platform will be open to other countries as well. This diverse coalition represents a strategic cross-section of Europe, the South Caucasus, and Central Asia, each bringing unique strengths and challenges to the table. 

 

USA-EU agriculture and food security, climate and energy cooperation platform

 

The cooperation platform has been initiated by the Club, in close cooperation with the NGO Roots of Peace, led by Heidi Kuhne, and Security and Sustainability Forum (SSF) of USA, in a few areas, such as:

  • Climate change and energy technologies for renewables, e.g. as it relates to hydrogen projects across the Atlantics, in cooperation with SSF,
  • Webinars for policy makers, wider academic and professional audience, organized by SSF, with participation of EU climate and energy professionals,
  • Agriculture and food security and climate projects in post-conflict areas, e.g. in Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, etc., in cooperation with Roots of Peace,
  • Joint meetings with EU institutions, Cabinets, etc., applications for Horizon Europe and Erasmus projects, USA foundations.
Infrastructure.

 

Global North and Global South climate cooperation initiative

The initiative is run by the Club and its partners from India, Pakistan and Nepal. It aims to bring global
North and global South closer in the processes of green climate and energy transition, to contribute
and to learn from each other, especially for young people.
The initiative has been developed during COP29 in Baku and will follow up as the priority project for COP30 in Brazil.
