The North Seas Energy Cooperation (NSEC) is a collaborative effort involving EU member states and the European Commission to advance offshore grid development and harness the vast renewable energy potential in the region. This initiative aligns with the European Green Deal and the REPowerEU Plan, underlining offshore renewables as crucial for achieving the EU’s 2030 and 2050 climate and energy objectives through regional cooperation. NSEC member countries, including Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, and the European Commission, have committed to working together to develop concrete cross-border offshore wind and grid projects, aiming to reduce costs and optimize offshore energy production, with a recent joint statement setting ambitious offshore wind energy targets for 2050 and beyond.
