The Club Climate Europe, a European think tank on climate and energy policy, was honoured to meet with Ambassador Vagif Sadigov, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to the European Union and Ramin Gasimov on October 24, 2023. The meeting was a valuable opportunity to discuss geopolitics, EU-Azerbaijan relations, climate, and energy.

Ambassador Sadigov provided a comprehensive overview of the current geopolitical situation in the Caucasus region and the importance of EU-Azerbaijan relations. He also highlighted Azerbaijan’s commitment to climate action and its ambitious plans to transition to a low-carbon economy. Club Climate Europe was particularly interested in learning more about Azerbaijan’s renewable energy potential.

The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to continue collaborating on climate and energy issues. Ambassador Sadigov invited the Club Climate Europe team to visit Azerbaijan to see firsthand how the country is developing its renewable energy sector and transitioning to a low-carbon economy.
