In a remarkable development, #Vietnam and the European Investment Bank (EIB) have inked a memorandum of understanding to champion the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP) in Vietnam. This collaboration signifies a shared commitment to establish a multi-project credit facility worth a whopping €500 million. 🤝💰

This substantial credit facility is set to pave the way for financing projects that support decarbonization and energy transition in Vietnam. Additionally, the EU is contributing €16.6 million in technical assistance to support Electricity Vietnam (EVN) in executing JETP-related projects. 🇪🇺💡

But that’s not all! The European Union is also actively supporting energy sector reforms in Vietnam. This includes creating favourable legislative and technical conditions for sustainable delivery through the Sustainable Energy Transition budget support Program, with an investment of €142 million. 🌱🔌

This initiative is part of the broader Global Gateway strategy, which aims to close the global investment gap and promote smart, clean, and secure connections in various sectors. Team Europe, a collaboration between the EU, European development finance institutions, and EU member states, plans to mobilize up to €300 billion in public and private investments from 2021 to 2027, fostering sustainable growth and resilience #worldwide. 🌐💪

Vietnam is not only a dynamic emerging economy but also a key partner for the EU in Southeast Asia, with a wide range of agreements in place. The EU is committed to supporting Vietnam’s sustainable development, aligned with global goals, and the Just Energy Transition Partnership is a cornerstone of this effort. 🤲🌿
