Today, Club Climate Europe representative Alexandra Pavlidis was participating in an engaging session at the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies for the Publication Launch: “Middle-Class Concerns and European Challenges.” 🌍
The research, based on a comprehensive survey across all 27 EU member states, delved into the economic, financial, and security challenges facing Europe’s middle class in the post-COVID era.
The results shed light on the acute economic insecurity felt, particularly in the lower social strata, posing not just economic but political stability challenges. From concerns about the economic landscape to the ripple effects of wars in Ukraine and Gaza, the findings highlight the complex dynamics at play.
Yet, amidst these challenges, there’s a prevailing optimism. Citizens believe in the problem-solving capacity of civil society actors and maintain a relatively high level of trust in the EU. Fascinatingly, centre-right policies on security, immigration, and the economy remain attractive, emphasizing the need for better engagement with the lower middle classes.
Expanding networks at the event, our dear team member had the pleasure of connecting with a representative from Glocalities, adding a global perspective to the dialogue. Club Climate Europe keeps extending its network, fostering connections and discussions.
